Mox Chandler: July 2024 Update
Almost There at Mox Chandler
Our last update on Mox Chandler was in December, and we’ve made a lot of progress since then! We’ve been working on this labor of love since 2021, and despite all the unexpected twists and turns everything is finally coming together. The end is finally in sight!
Final Stretch: What's Left Before the Grand Opening
When we said things were coming together up above, we mean it literally. The Kitchen and Cashwrap are fully finished and ready to go. The Tournament Room just needs a few paint touch ups, the back bar is close to complete with the bar top itself being installed this week, the Game Library shelves are in the building and being installed, with the shelves for the completed Portal going in next week. Add in all the signage getting completed next week and the Miniatures and Retail Floor finishing up shortly, the end of major construction is swiftly approaching. It's really starting to look like a Mox in there!
After that, we’re on to the final touches – things like all the finishings, minor paint touch ups, ordering games to put on the shelves, and hiring all the necessary staff to open the doors. General hiring is coming up soon, so stay tuned for that announcement if you're interested in joining out Mox Chandler team. We'll be looking for Retail and Restaurant associates, assistant managers, cooks, and more.
Hiring Head Chef for Mox Chandler
Speaking of hiring, we’re looking to fill the key role of Head Chef right away. You can find the details and application for the Chandler-based position (which officially starts on August 19th) here. If you think you're a great fit, apply today! Or if you know someone who would be excellent, share this blog post with them.
That Head Chef position will be working with Summer, our Restaurant General Manager.
Meet the Mox Chandler Team
Chandler Restaurant Manager: Summer
We are thrilled to introduce Summer, our Restaurant General Manager at Mox Chandler. With a wealth of experience and a passion for the restaurant industry, Summer brings a unique blend of expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm to our team.
Summer joined the Mox team 6 years ago as a server at our Mox Bellevue location. In 2020, she played a pivotal role in opening our Portland store, joining the leadership team as the front of house supervisor. During her tenure, she spearheaded the development of the bar program, creating popular menus that showcased uncommon spirits and flavors, that patrons still enjoy today.
Her management philosophy places her team at the center of her focus. “I want to help create a team that I’m proud to be a part of. It’s important to have a culture that balances both doing great work and enjoying being there,” says Summer.
A passionate board gamer and avid reader, Summer brings her love for community and engagement to her role at Mox Chandler. She loves heavy euro board games like Ark Nova and has ready 29 books this year so far! “Gaming helps build a lot of skills. Learning strategy and understanding rules is its own set of unique skills. But more than that, it provides an opportunity to connect with people. Just the act of setting aside time to sit down around a table with people and be present is really important. Tabletop games are particularly good for that because you have to pay attention and engage with the physical things right in front of you.”
Summer’s vision for Mox creates a welcoming and comfortable space for people to connect. “I’ve seen so many different types of groups come into Mox—first dates, corporate teams, families—and they all have the same goal: to spend time interacting with each other. Gaming provides a really great way to do that, and Mox provides a space where people can be guided towards where to begin with gaming, which can sometimes be overwhelming, and guests don’t have to feel rushed to leave. Gaming improves people’s lives because being able to spend time doing something together with people you care about is probably one of the most important things you can do.”
Currently, Summer is diligently preparing for our opening, working on everything from menu development to order lists, to hiring, ensuring that every detail is perfect for our opening. “I’m so excited for Mox to be a part of the Chandler community. I’m looking forward to when we’re open and seeing friends and family all coming together in our space,” she shares. With her dedication and vision, we are confident that Mox Chandler will become a favorite spot for gamers and our local community.
The End of the Road, the Beginning of the Journey

Getting here has been a much longer road than anyone thought, and we are happy to finally be ready to share what we’ve been working on with you. We look forward to meeting all of you, and to become a part of each other’s community. We’re almost ready to open the doors to all of you, and we can’t wait.
