An amazing weekend under the big top

An amazing day of games and giving just flew by, and all the majesty of the circus was on display at this year’s annual day of games and giving, The Gauntlet: Cirque! The dust has settled and we’ve packed up the tent and we’re so proud of each team who participated and raised money for this year’s beneficiary, El Centro de la Raza. There will still be money coming in over the next few weeks, but as of today The Gauntlet: Cirque! raised $117,342, surpassing our goal by more than $47,000! Between our sponsors, donors, participants and volunteers The Gauntlet: Cirque! had more support than ever in the event’s six-year history. All the fun under the big top This year’s gauntlet was a highlight in Engage’s history. The Gauntlet: A closer look at El Centro de la Raza

Now in its sixth year, The Gauntlet has worked with several amazing organizations as beneficiaries, but this year we’re proud to work with one of the best around. On the heels of passing our goal with 5 days until our teams show up in Bellevue, it feels like a good time to introduce and highlight why we chose El Centro de la Raza for The Gauntlet: Cirque! An idea is bornBorn out of hard times in the early 1970s, a small group of students and staff peacefully occupied the historic Beacon Hill School outside of downtown Seattle, laying the foundation of what would become El Centro de la Raza. Translated to “The Center for People of All Races,” they wear their hearts on their sleeves and aim to provide a feeling of home for all people interested in making a better world for each other by educa

    Gauntlet Defending Champs: Team Phoenix

We’re just a few days away from The Gauntlet, our annual charity gaming tournament at Mox Bellevue. Each year, twenty teams from our local area come together to compete in a day of games and giving, and we wanted to throw a spotlight on our defending champions: Team Phoenix! While many of our Gauntlet teams hail from game studios throughout our area, we often welcome teams from our Mox community to join us in the competition. Emily and Joe Klopchic and their friends ended up playing a crucial role in The Gauntlet 2016 – when a team dropped out two days before the tournament, they assembled a team and swooped in to save the day. The team called themselves “Except All Substitutions,” and their eleventh-hour preparation paid off, earning them a fourth-place finish.  When they were

Board Game Charity Event Raises $138,000

Community is at the core of our business, and in the six years since we opened shop at our original Seattle location Mox Boarding House has become a gathering place for board gamers in the Puget Sound region and beyond. We refer to it as a “campfire” around here; folks from all over coming together to share in the experience of gaming. We pride ourselves on community-building, and last weekend we once again had the chance to bring together local gaming luminaries to raise funds for a worthy cause! On Sunday, May 21, 2017, we hosted a comic-themed charity board game event called The Gauntlet: Infinity. The Gauntlet is a yearly board gaming tournament organized by ENGAGE, Mox Boarding House’s charitable giving branch, and this year twenty game companies and community organizations sent
