What does a private room booking at Mox involve?

It’s the best! When you book a private room at Mox you have a room that is reserved for just you and your friends. You can order anything from our restaurant food and beverage menus and will have a server that will take your orders and take care of all your needs. Make sure to check out the store while you visit, we have a board game library that you can borrow games from while you are visiting free of charge. There are over 400 titles to choose from so there is a game for everyone. Our expert staff will match the perfect game to you and your party after asking some basic questions. You can also bring in your own games.

Bellevue: Our rooms come with TV’s that you can connect your laptop to and with an Audio hookup so you can play your own music.

How do I book a private room?

You can book any of our private rooms using the Flexbooker portal above. Simply choose the room you are interested in and click “Book Now.” After choosing the date you are interested in, you select the desired start time of your booking. All bookings are 4 hours and you can add more time at this stage if you would like. Next, you would fill out the required fields. Once this is completed you will be taken to a secure page to enter your credit card information, a credit card is required to make a booking. We do not charge a deposit at the time of booking, however, Flexbooker charges an “authorization fee” of $1, then refunds it to make sure the card is valid at booking.

Ballard: The no show fee for the Red Room and the Green Room is $30 and the no show fee for the Red and Green Rooms Combined is $60.

Bellevue: The no show fee for our private rooms is $40 and the no show fee for the Library and Apothecary Combined is $80.

Portland: The no show fee for our individual rooms is $40, and $80 for combined rooms.

You would only be charged this no-show fee if your party does not show up for the reservation or if the cancellation is within 72 hours of the booking date (see cancellation policy below). All charges for your room will be collected on-site at the end of your stay.

You will receive a confirmation email with the date, time, and name of the room you booked. To cancel or make changes to your reservation, use the link that you received with your confirmation. To make booking easier for future reservations, click the “Sign-In” link on the booking portal. From here, you can create an account and have your personal information auto-filled for future reservations.

Note: You cannot call Mox Boarding House to make a reservation, the booking portal must be used.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel your reservation by clicking the link in your confirmation email that says “If you need to change your appointment, please click here.” From there, you can move your reservation to another available time slot, or cancel your reservation altogether.

Please note:

Ballard: if you cancel your reservation within 72 hours of your start time, you will be charged a no show fee of $30 for the Red Room and the Green Room or a no show fee of $60 for the Red and Green Rooms Combined.

Bellevue: if you cancel your reservation within 72 hours of your start time, you will be charged a no show fee of $40.

Portland: if you cancel your reservation within 72 hours of your start time, you will be charged a $40 if a single room is booked or $80 for combined room reservations as the cancellation fee.

How can I reserve a private room for less than four hours?

You may reserve a room for less than four hours during non-peak times (before 5pm M-F). To do this, create your reservation for the room of your choice with the correct start time. The booking portal will require that you select four hours for your reservation. Just leave a note on your reservation with your desired time frame and we will make the adjustments on our end. You will receive a confirmation email when we have updated your reservation.

How much does it cost to book the Private Rooms?

Ballard:
The Red and Green rooms can each be booked for $30/hour at peak times and $20/hour during off-peak times. The Red and Green rooms can be booked together for $50/hour during peak hours and $30/hour during off-peak hours.
Off peak times are Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm. Peak times are 5pm to close on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. All booking are a 4 hour minimum.

Bellevue:
The Apothecary, and the Library each book $40/hour at peak times and $30/hour at off-peak times. The Apothecary and the Library can be booked together (they can be connected via a slide up door) for $80 at peak hours and $60 at off-peak hours.

What is the capacity of your private rooms?

Ballard:
The Red Room can accommodate up to 10 guests, while the Green Room can accommodate 8 guests. When combined via a sliding door, the two rooms can accommodate up to 18 guests.

Bellevue:
The Apothecary and Library hold up to 10 guests each comfortably. When combining the Apothecary and Library rooms (they can be combined via a slide up door) you have space for up to 20 guests.
Our Patio can seat up to 40 guests, and the Tournament Hall can seat up to 100. Please contact our event coordinator using this contact form if you have a group of more than 20 guests.

Portland:
The Reading Room can accommodate 9 guests. The Rose Room and the Clover Room can each accommodate up to 10 guests. When combining the Rose and Clover rooms (they can be combined via a slide up door) you have space for up to 20 guests.
We can also rent out our Tournament Hall on a case by case basis, which can seat larger groups. Please contact our event coordinator using this contact form, if you have a group of more than 20 guests.

Can I connect to a TV and/or play music in the private rooms?

Ballard:
Yes, the Red Room has both a TV with HDMI ports and a Bluetooth-enabled sound bar. We have remotes for both the TV and sound bar, as well as HDMI cables for the TV available.

Bellevue:
Yes, our rooms all have AUX ports for you to plug in your audio to play your own music. Our Apothecary and Library also have HDMI ports for you to plug in to use our TVs during your booking. This is a great option for anyone that is looking to host a meeting, use your laptop to share a video, or even play certain game systems that use an HDMI port to display audio and visual. We have HDMI cords that you can borrow, and recommend bringing any other cords or adapters that you need to setup your system, and let us know if you are having any issue setting it up.

Portland:
Yes, each of our private rooms has it’s own TV that you are welcome to use during your stay. We have HDMI cables available for you to borrow. If your device requires a specialized adapter, please bring that with you and ask a Mox team member to assist you in setting it up. This is a great option for anyone that is looking to host a meeting, use your laptop to share a video, or even play certain game systems that use an HDMI port to display audio and visual.

Additionally our rooms all have AUX ports for you to plug in your audio to play your own music.

How will I be charged for the private room booking?

You will pay for the room reservation at the end of your stay, along with all food and beverage that you ordered through the restaurant. Your server will collect this payment and will be able to assist you in splitting it across multiple guests, if needed.

Can everyone in my group help pay for the room?

Absolutely, when you settle up at the end of night, any number of folks can chip in to pay the balance.

Do you have high chairs?

Yes, we do have a few highchairs and boosters at Mox, they are first come first served however. Usually this is not an issue but some days when there are a lot of children dining, we may not have one available.

What should I do if we are running late?

If you are running late, please call the restaurant to let us know.

If we have not heard from you 30 minutes after the start of your reservation, we will cancel your reservation and open up the room for other parties. Please see our cancellation policy for more information.

How far in advance can I book a private room?

We take reservations for rooms 90 days in advance. It’s been our experience that you’ll want to book as early as possible. The rooms tend to book up completely, especially at peak times.

How does food and beverage work? Can we bring our own?

Our private rooms are fully serviced by the restaurant so you can order anything from our food and beverage menus.

A server will take your orders and take care of anything you need.

Note that we do not allow any outside food or beverage at Mox. We make one exception, if you have a private room booked and would like to bring in a cake to celebrate a birthday.

For special events if you would like to bring in your own wine, or champagne, we do allow this. There is a $20 corkage fee per bottle and we will need to open, pour, and serve the beverage for you.

We are planning a special event (anniversary, birthday, bachelorette, etc), can we decorate the space?

Yes! You can decorate the space and bring in props, however, you must make sure that any decorations do not permanently damage the space, so please be very careful with glitter or when fixing anything to the walls. Your reservation gives you 30 minutes before your booking to come in and decorate, if you need more time than that, just add more time to your booking.

I want to book a corporate event that has a little more structure with drink tickets and pre-ordered food. Is that possible?

Yes, just use the form here to send us an email. Our Private Event Organizer will help you get set up. For more structured events with a strict budget we can set up pre-ordered food, limited menus, a limit of the dollar amount the group/individual can spend. Just let us know what you need and we will get it set up for you.

I would like to film a video/do a live stream/do a photoshoot in one of your private rooms. How would I set that up?

We are interested in hosting a charity event in your private room, how would we go about that?

Can we consume alcohol if children are at the event?

Regarding alcohol service in the room, if you are hosting an event at Mox where guests are a variety of ages, especially if they are all in and around 21 years old, it is possible that we might restrict alcohol service. The service of alcohol in the private rooms with one or more guests under legal drinking age is at the discretion of the server. If an individual in your group is not of legal drinking age and there is a possibility of this person consuming alcohol, then unfortunately, these beverages would be prohibited. However, if you contact us in advance we can sometimes set something up such as wristbands or ID guests at anytime they order an alcoholic beverage.
